The conference which takes place annually, this year in Vancouver, Canada from July 22nd to 26th, is now in its nineteenth year and its award ceremony recognizes successful practical and commercial applications of Artificial Intelligence technologies in industry.

ChangingWorlds’ Stephen Oman together with founders Professor Barry Smyth and Paul Cotter prepared the winning paper entitled "Enabling Intelligent Content Discovery on the Mobile Internet" which describes how the ClixSmart personalization technology has been deployed by mobile operators worldwide to deliver very significant portal usability benefits leading to increased portal usage and revenue growth. Professor Barry Smyth, a member of the AAAI and worldwide recognized expert in the area of Artificial Intelligence, presented the winning paper at the IAAI conference to leading researchers and practitioners in artificial intelligence. Professor Smyth is also a member of the editorial board of AAAI's Artificial Intelligence Magazine.

ChangingWorlds have continually strived to nurture and develop its innovative application of Artificial Intelligence in its ClixSmart personalization engine. As a result, ClixSmart is unrivalled in its ability to personalize content and enable intelligent content discovery methods over mobile which allows operators to delivery highly accessible, personalized mobile portals that meet individual subscriber needs. Much of ChangingWorlds early research has grown out of the Smart Media Institute in UCD, Ireland’s largest university where Barry Smyth is a Professor of Computer Science. The nerve centre of ChangingWorlds ongoing RandD is to this day still located in UCD, in the Nova Centre, an Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre renowned for the commercialization of research for the benefit of the economy.

This is actually the second such award for ChangingWorlds, having received an award from the AAAI in 2000 for its innovative personalization technology implemented as PTV – an intelligently personalized electronic programme guide. This was the first implementation of the ClixSmart technology which ultimately led to the development and the deployment of ClixSmart personalization for mobile portals. As a result of many technology innovation awards and a growing customer base, ChangingWorlds has a recognized heritage in developing cutting edge personalization technologies across multiple platforms.
